Eduardo Cunha de Almeida is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of ParanĂ¡ (UFPR). His research interest is in database systems and data management. His research projects include the investigation of new data structures, algorithms and database kernels to emerging hardware, distributed query processing and data profiling. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Nantes (INRIA - AtlasGDD Team advised by Patrick Valduriez and Gerson Sunye), France, in 2009. His PhD thesis was on testing distributed data structures, like distributed hash tables (DHT) and his MSc was on performance evaluation of data warehouse database systems (advised by Marcos Sunye). From 1998 to 2005 he worked as an engineer in database technology at HSBC Bank, GVT Telecom, and UFPR Foundation. He joined the faculty at the UFPR in 2009, working in the area of data base systems. In addition to this position, he has served as Deputy Head for the Graduate Program in Computer Science (2010-2012), Research Associate at the SnT Lab, Luxembourg (2013-2015) and Deputy Head of the Undergraduate Program in Computer Science (2015-2017).
