Eduardo Cunha de Almeida is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil, where he leads the Database Lab (LBD). He is also a CNPq Research Fellow (PQ). His research focuses on database systems and data management, with interests in query processing, data quality and profiling, and hardware acceleration for data processing. He has published in leading database venues, including PVLDB, SIGMOD, ICDE, and CIKM. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Nantes (INRIA - AtlasGDD Team), France, in 2009, under the supervision of Patrick Valduriez and Gerson Sunye. Before joining academia, he worked as a database engineer at HSBC Bank and GVT Telecom from 1998 to 2005. He joined the UFPR faculty in 2009 and has since held several academic and international research positions, including Deputy Head of the Graduate Program in Computer Science (2010–2012), Research Associate at the SnT Lab in Luxembourg (2013–2015), Deputy Head of the Undergraduate Program in Computer Science (2015–2017), and Senior Researcher at the Exascale Lab in Switzerland (2023–2024). He has received the CAPES Award for Best Ph.D. Thesis Advisor (2021), the Best Paper Award at the ER Conference (2021), Best Paper at SBBD twice - Prêmio José Mauro de Castilho (2015 and 2021), and Best Paper Runner-Up at ISSRE (2008), CIKM (2020) and PVLDB (2025).
