Installation Guide

Vines is an unofficial Apache CloudStack plugin, so before doing an installation you need to know just two things:

  • As a CloudStack plugin, the Vines is installed along with the CloudStack platform.
  • Because it is an unofficial CloudStack project, the Vines source code is (at the moment) in a git repository forked from Apache. Through this repository we build the Apache CloudStack DEB packages (with Vines included) and make them available for installation.

Below you will find multiple ways to prepare your own CloudStack/Vines deployment. Choose the best way for you and follow the required steps indicated.

All-in-one Installation

This is the simplest CloudStack/Vines deployment. You will only need a single machine (or virtual machine). We recommend this option for testing or trial purpose only.

Ubuntu 20.04 CentOS 7.x

Multi-node Installation

This type of installation allows for more robust deployments. The steps contained in this documentation will instruct you to create a small-scale CloudStack/Vines deployment (with a single management server and one or more hosts). However, if you have a larger domain under CloudStack, it is possible to adapt the steps to create large-scale deployments (with multiple management servers, multiple storage servers, etc.).
